Tom Jones
Started in 1960 by Tom Jones, the business was originally named House of Signs. In the early days, the focus was on custom hand-painted signs, graphics, and window lettering. Tom also patented a spinning advertisement sign called Spin Ad, which featured large signs displayed across the state and around the country.
In the mid-1970s, Tom moved the business from Kansas City to Blue Springs, where we are still located today. He ran the business until 2005, when his son, Mark Jones—a second-generation sign maker—and his grandson, Michael Jones—the family's third generation in the sign industry—took over and rebranded the business as Royal Signs.
Mark Jones
Mark got his start in the sign business back in 1977, when he began working for his father at House of Signs. During his four years of college in Springfield, Missouri, Mark worked for two sign companies and mastered the almost-forgotten art of hand lettering. He painted numerous signs for a wide range of businesses, including many road signs along Interstate 44.
Over the years, Mark has gained extensive experience with the advancements in computer-aided sign work. He also spent many years fabricating signs using plastic, aluminum, steel, wood, and electrical components—virtually everything in the trade. He brings over 45 years of sign design and fabrication experience.
Michael Jones
Michael manages our fabrication and installation, as well as many other aspects of the business. He studied graphic design in college for two years and has 23 years of hands-on experience in fabricating, installing, and designing signs. Michael has done everything from custom fabrication and welding to operating and programming all of our fabrication machines. He also has over 10 years of experience in vehicle wraps.
He follows the same principles of quality workmanship and genuine attentiveness to our customers' needs that we have worked for years to uphold.
Together, we bring a vast knowledge of the sign industry and personal experience in meeting the signage needs of many great customers over the years. The result is a long-standing history of quality sign design and construction.
Our design and fabrication shop allows us to personally create all types of signs right here at Royal Signs. We also handle our own installation work. As a family-owned and operated business, we truly care about quality and customer satisfaction. We can produce nearly every type of sign—from small, simple decals to large architectural and electrical signs.
